California Chrome didn't win the Triple Crown. Bummer. :(
Today I took a staycation with a really good friend of mine. We always have fun together no matter what and the friendship always seems to pick up right where it left off. In my opinion, those are the best friends to have.
I have been having extreme wanderlust since the Grand Canyon, so I thought that it would be a good idea to take a mini road trip. We walked up and down Main Street of a nearby town then did a small 3 mile hike. Main Street had a ton of stores with tons of wine, chocolate, coffee and tea samples (yum!) that we, of course, indulged in. It was literally the perfect day and we took the best selfies.
Things to take into consideration when planning a staycation….
1) Choose a place with a slightly different culture than your hometown. We are in a major city, so visiting somewhere with a small town vibe and lots of natural scenery gave us the impression of being on vacation.
2) Do something that you normally wouldn't do back at home. Since you're far enough away, you can safely do something outside of your comfort zone without ever seeing those people again.
3) If you're looking to shop, make sure that you are shopping for something unique to the town. Don't buy things that you could just buy at home.
4) Leave your troubles behind.. if you have any, that is.
